About Uptown Artworks

With more than 15 years of experience in the decorative pillow business, artist/manufacturer Lori Blum, previously known for her IL Fiore line, has literally taken a new direction with Uptown Artworks:  bold,  “destination art” that is customizable for every locale.

“Not everyone lives in New York or Los Angeles” says Blum, when she describes the predominance of home décor based on these cities. “I wanted to offer consumers and retailers in any city the opportunity to celebrate their towns in fresh, decorative ways.”

A collector of American antiques, Blum was drawn to vintage bus and subway rolls at an antique show because of their bold aesthetic and design appeal. In the early 20th century, bus, tram and subway route signs were printed on rolls of black cloth and rotated manually by drivers or conductors to display the next stop or destination. Inspired by these rolls, Uptown Artworks reproduces the signs on thick, gallery-wrapped canvas, creating unique wall art for the home. Unlike the vintage signs, however, these canvases can easily be customized for any destination or personal theme.

The line has expanded to include personalized pet-themed pillows, birth announcement pillows and family pillows with custom-color options.   All ot the pillows are eco-friendly, produced with natural linen and cotton. Uptown Artworks products are also proudly crafted in the United States.
